Open a new or existing Word document. Click where you want to write the name. Type the name using the keyboard. If you want to format the name, such as changing the font, size, or color, highlight the name and then use the formatting options in the Home tab of the ribbon.
If you want to personalize a document by including your recipients first names, insert the FirstName merge field on its own. Click or tap where you want the merge field. Choose the down-arrow under Insert Merge Field, and select a field. If you dont see your field name in the list, choose Insert Merge Field.
Try it! Select Insert Header or Footer. Select one of the built in designs. Type the text you want in the header or footer. Select Close Header and Footer when youre done.
How to use autofill in Word Choose your text. Navigate to the AutoText menu. Create a new building block. Use your new AutoText entry. Remove paragraph marks. Give your autofill entry a unique name. Group your autofill entries. Remove unused autofill entries.
Go to Insert Header or Footer. Select Edit Header or Edit Footer. Select Quick Parts and select Field. In the Field names list, choose the field you want (such as FileName, Date, Author, or Title), choose the format you want in the Field properties section.
Position the insertion point where the field is to be added. Choose Insert - Quick Parts - Field. Select a field category from the Categories list. Select a field from the Field names list.
Click the Insert tab and then click the Quick Parts dropdown in the Text group. From the dropdown, choose Fields (Figure A).
Place the mouse where you want to put the fill-in form field. Click the Developer tab, then select Design Mode. Then, click the Content Control buttons to insert content controls like drop-down menus or a date picker. Click the Design Mode button again when youre finished to activate the form.
