Where do I enter my extension payment (Form 4868)? If you paid an extension payment to the IRS when you filed your extension, that information needs to be included when you file your tax return. Enter it on the Extension and Other Tax Payments screen.
You can get an automatic extension when you make a payment with Direct Pay, the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System or by debit or credit card. When paying electronically, you must select Form 4868 as the payment type and the payment date to get the automatic extension.
To make a payment using your bank account within the program: Federal. Miscellaneous Forms. Application for Extension. Complete the necessary information. Go to Extension Payment. Enter the amount you wish to pay with your extension. E-file and select File Extension to e-file the return.
If you file Form 1040EZ or Form 1040A, include any payment you made with Form 4868 in your total payments on line 9 of Form 1040EZ or line 39 of Form 1040A. Also write Form 4868 and the amount in the space to the left of line 9 or line 39.
When you file Form 1040, enter any payment you made with Form 4868 on line 61. If you file Form 1040EZ or Form 1040A, include any payment you made with Form 4868 in your total payments on line 9 of Form 1040EZ or line 39 of Form 1040A. Also write Form 4868 and the amount in the space to the left of line 9 or line 39.
Where do I enter my extension payment (Form 4868)? If you paid an extension payment to the IRS when you filed your extension, that information needs to be included when you file your tax return. Enter it on the Extension and Other Tax Payments screen.
Go to the Input Return tab. On the left-side menu, select Payments, Penalties Extensions. Select Extensions (4868/2350). Enter a 1 in 1=automatic extension, 2=blank (MANDATORY).
An extension can allow you more time to file, but it does not allow more time to pay taxes due. You must estimate your taxes and subtract what you have already paid. Tax payments are the payments youve already made that include: Withholdings from your paychecks. Estimated payments you made during the year.
