Avoiding food waste is important, but you also dont want grumpy guests who havent had enough to eat. If you ask wedding planners and caterers, many will say that you should cater for around 75% of all your guests. Keep in mind that not everyone will be hungry, and many people will just nibble at a buffet.
The contract should state pertinent, basic information such as the names and contact information of the parties involved, the venue where the event is to take place, and the date and time of the event. Final date for any changes.
Its pretty simple too: We just determine an appropriate size portion of any dish in ounces per person, the we multiply that times the number of guests and divide by 16 (# of oz in a pound) and just like that you get the number of pounds youll need.
For local guests, plan for 85% of invitees attending. Dont forget to add spouses and children if they are invited! For out-of-town guests, plan on 55% of them attending. However, if most of them are close family who may go the distance to make it, your estimate could be higheras high as 85%.
So, for an event of 100 guests, youll need 80 platters to feed the guests at full meal capacity. You may feel the need to order 1-2 more than your calculation, but keep in mind that different guests have different levels of appetite.
The total catering costs are calculated by multiplying the price of food per plate by the total number of guests you are expecting at your event. You can also determine the cost of food by calculating the amount of each type of dish you plan to serve your guests if the style you plan to use is buffet.
Look up each food you intend to serves portion size and multiply this by the number of people attending the event to find out how much food youll need. For example, each person should be served 225 grams (7.9 oz) of meat, 60 grams (2.1 oz) of vegetables, 115 grams (4.1 oz) of potatoes.
On average, if you invite LESS than 200 guests you can expect 85% of your guest list to show up. If you invite MORE than 200 people, expect around 75%. But this is real life, not a math equation. So many factors come into play with a wedding guest list and trying to figure out who is going to come or not.
