namespaces are a vital part of XML documents and of the entire XML world and so in the next few videos weamp;#39;re going to talk about namespaces weamp;#39;ll start here with what they are a namespace allows us to differentiate things that look the same the idea with XML is that anybody in the world can create your own markup language with their own tags well what happens when two people create the same tag well this happens every day in life even though we donamp;#39;t even think about it but think about this how many Bob Smiths are there say in Nashville where I live probably I donamp;#39;t know a couple hundred thousand now not that many but once I meet somebody who says heamp;#39;s Bob Smith and then I meet somebody else who says heamp;#39;s Bob Smith I automatically think a women thatamp;#39;s the Bob Smith who works for and you know some company or thatamp;#39;s the Bob Smith who plays guitar or something like that notice what Iamp;#39;m doing there Iamp;#39;m applying

The Social Security number is a nine-digit number in the format AAA-GG-SSSS. The number has three parts: the first three digits, called the area number because they were formerly assigned by geographical region; the middle two digits, the group number; and the last four digits, the serial number.
When You Can Say NO to Providing Your Social Security Number Employers for wage and tax reporting. Employers enrolled in E-Verify. States for the school lunch program. Banks for monetary transactions. Veterans Administration as a hospital admission number. Department of Labor for workers compensation.
The SSN is the single most widely used record identifier for both government and the private sector, exerting a broad influence on the lives of most Americans. However, by itself, it is not a personal identifier because it lacks systematic assignment to every person and the means to authenticate a persons identity.
The first three digits are the area number. The next two digits are the group number. The final four digits are the serial number.
Medicare and most state Medicaid programs still use the SSN as the patient identifier, but even those programs are under pressure to discontinue the practice. More than 20 states have enacted legislation that minimizes or restricts the collection, use, storage and retention of Social Security numbers.
BEST PRACTICES. Organizations should avoid using Social Security numbers (SSNs) as identifiers for any type of transaction. The SSN should only remain in a database as a secondary identifier. Organizations should exercise limited use of an individuals SSN.
A Social Security number (SSN) is a unique identifier issued by the Social Security Administration. You need an SSN to work, and its used to determine your eligibility for Social Security benefits and certain government services.
The nine-digit SSN is composed of three parts: The first set of three digits is called the Area Number. The second set of two digits is called the Group Number. The final set of four digits is the Serial Number.
