The purpose of this video is to show you the basics of using a DITA Subject Scheme Map to profile content in Oxygen. A subject scheme map allows you to create and manage custom profiling values in DITA documents and it uses key definitions to define a collection of attribute values instead of a collection of topics. By defining controlled values and using hierarchical levels in the subject scheme map, you can filter and flag content in Author mode or in transformed output. The advantages of using a subject scheme to control profiling attribute values include: First: You can create a hierarchy of profiling attribute values and use a DITAVAL file to filter them Second: You can share the files with others without having to share preferences or the entire project. Third: The subject scheme offers validation support so you are notified if an undefined value is used For the purposes of this demonstration, I will focus on a use-case where I want to customize the values of the amp;#39;audienc

The chunking method is a memorization technique that involves breaking down large chunks of information into bite-sized pieces. You can create these chunks based on similarities, personal associations, or visual cues. Our working memory, or short-term memory, can process around four chunks of information in one go.
For instance, you may want to combine several types of information into a single page, or you may have chosen to create many small DITA topics for reuse purposes but feel they are too small to be useful to a reader by themselves. This is referred to as chunking.
DITA maps often encode structures that are specific to a particular medium or output, for example, Web pages or a PDF document. Attributes, such as @deliveryTarget and @toc , are designed to help processors interpret the DITA map for each kind of output.
The @chunk attribute can be used on grouping elements to combine multiple source documents into one result document. The result of evaluating the @chunk attribute on the element is equivalent to a single DITA document that contains the content of both ingroup1. dita and ingroup2.
The linking attribute allows you to specify whether a link should appear in only one of the topics within a relationship. A topic can only be linked to and cannot link to other topics. A topic cannot be linked to but can link to other topics.
Chunk is used for any (typically rather large) amount of data which still is only a part of any size of a whole, e. g. the first 1000 bytes of a file. The next 3000 bytes could be the next chunk.
To cover separate content such as concepts, tasks, reference, the DITA standard specifies different information types. Each information type defines structured elements that aid in authoring the relevant content. For example, the task type defines elements such as , , , and .
