To successfully transfer a vehicles title in Maryland, you need: A correctly signed title certificate that contains the vehicle sellers name and signature. The Purchasers name and address also needs to be included on the title certificate. A completed application for title (if required)
Maryland law allows vehicles to be gifted to family members without paying tax. However, you need to fill out the two sections on the back labeled Application for Title and Registration and Assignment of Ownership; the giver signs as seller, and the receiver as the buyer.
For more information, read Maryland Rule 15-901. General: To change your name you must file a Petition for Change of Name. A notice of the request must be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the county in which you reside unless the Court grants a waiver of publication.
You need to apply for a new Maryland title for the vehicle. You may mail your application documents to the MVAs Mail-in Title Unit in the Glen Burnie office or you may apply in-person at any of the MVAs full service branch offices or an MVA authorized tag and title service.
In Maryland, you are not legally required to give your name if asked to identify yourself (although some states do require this).
