If you use overflow: hidden; then the text that fits into the 100x100 will not be displayed, and will not affect layout. display: none is completely different. It renders the rest of the page as if if the div was still visible. Even if there is overflow, that will be taken into account.
display:none turns off the layout of the elements, so they are not rendered. visibility:hidden hides the elements without changing their layouts. opacity:0 causes the elements to be very transparent but users can still interact with them.
visibility:hidden will keep the element in the page and occupies that space but does not show to the user. display:none will not be available in the page and does not occupy any space.
The hidden attribute hides the element. You can specify either hidden (without value) or hidden=hidden. Both are valid. A hidden is not visible, but maintains its position on the page.
Hiding an Image in CSS The trick to hiding any element on your web page is to insert either a display: none; or visibility: hidden; rule for that element. The display: none; rule not only hides the element, but also removes it from the document flow.
To hide an element in a responsive layout, we need to use the CSS display property set to its none value along with the @media rule. The content of the second element having a hidden-mobile class will be hidden on devices smaller than 767px.
display: none; is commonly used with JavaScript to hide and show elements without deleting and recreating them.
Applying display: none or opacity: 0 will effect on child elements. visibility: hidden , on the other hand, doesnt change the visibility of any children. Its worth noting that if you want to measure the size of element, then you cant use display: none at all.
