5. Can you reapply to medical school with the same letters of recommendation? Yes. But AMCAS doesnt hold them on file, so youll have to resubmit your rec letters with your new application.
How to write a letter of recommendation for medical school They explain how well the letter writer knows the applicant. They go into depth about the applicants accomplishments. They provide context for the applicants accomplishments. They use positive language when discussing the applicants weaknesses.
Some recommenders may wish to write an updated letter when you apply in a subsequent reporting year or to a different type of program. A recommender may decide to rescind a letter after becoming aware that it has been repurposed, if permission to reuse the letter has not been requested and granted.
If you need a reference for a non‐academic position (i.e., a summer job), it is more appropriate to ask a counselor, T.A., current or former supervisor, RA/HA, church leader, volunteer coordinator, etc. for a reference unless a professor/instructor letter is specifically requested.
You may add a new letter after your application has been submitted, but you cannot delete or change existing letter entries.
Ask for a backup letter in case one of your letters of recommendation does not come through. You can receive up to 10 letters of recommendation in AMCAS and pick and choose which ones you forward to medical schools later. Its much better to have too many letters than too few. Ask for letters of recommendation early.
Letters of evaluation (although please note that you can only make additions of up to 10 letters, and you must notify the AMCAS program if you have a letter you wish to no longer be sent to medical schools; you cannot delete letters of evaluation from your application).
