Use a voltage tester or a light repair tool to test the bulb sockets for electrical current.
Most string lights have two tiny fuses inside the plug. Typically, a box of lights is also packaged with a replacement fuse or two. To replace a fuse, take a small set of pliers or flathead screwdriver and slide open the cover. Then gently pop out the fuse and replace it with new ones.
Simply plug in the light strand and remove a bulb thats in or near the dark section. Next, insert the tool into the bulbs socket and squeeze the trigger to activate a piezo circuit. A high-energy pulse will shoot through the set and after about 20 pulses any faulty shunt should be re-activated.
With the plug in hand, slide the door marked Open in the direction pointed by the arrow. Remove the two fuses, and inspect them by looking at them up against a bright background (such as the sky). If the fuse is good, you should see an unbroken strand of wire running between the two metal contacts.

Tighten loose bulbs If a light bulb is in too loosely the socket isnt making proper contact with the bulb, and that can cause intermittent flickering. Even recessed lights can loosen, so check those connections first. Replacing switches can solve common flickering issues.
The bulbs draw power and if the circuit voltage isnt high enough, the result will be flickering. A simple solution to this would be to move the LED light to a circuit that can handle the voltage.

Only 3 reasons string lights stop working completely: the copper wiring is compromised (physically cut or corroded), the fuse is blown or there is a loose or broken bulb. If only part of the strand isnt working its a bulb problem. Each bulb has a bypass wire so if a bulb burns out its just one bulb.
