and there are a lot of people who are for them and a lot of people are against them it seems that most of the people who are for them are essentially IP holding companies who just sit around and wait with patents and wait until technology actually gets interesting using something that could potentially be covered by these patents and then they sue people and they dont generally they dont sue small companies they sue Microsoft and IBM and of course IBM and you know like all these big companies have their own patents pools and they use them as leverage against other companies with patents but I just you know I think there are so many problems with it the biggest problems are that you have people patenting things that are essentially math which is what patents are not supposed to be even about at all and the I mean there are other problems there no its Im usually drunk when I give this explanation and it comes out so much smoother I just think that theyre a big problem largely becaus

Can the USPTO revoke a patent after granting it? The short answer is yes. Learn more about patent re-examinations, the grounds for requesting one, and possible outcomes.
The grant of a patent can be challenged either via a patent office or in a court of law. A court may invalidate or revoke a patent upon a successful challenge by a third party.
If the only change being made in the patent is correction of the inventorship, this can be accomplished by filing a request for a certificate of correction under the provisions of 35 USC 256 and 37 CFR 1.324. See MPEP 1412.04 and MPEP 1481.02.
Patent law includes a requirement that inventions must be useful. For well over a century, this requirement has been largely moribund; rather than evaluating whether inventions improve social welfare, courts and the USPTO have largely been content to ask whether an invention does somethinganything, reallyand then
Within the first 9 months after the patent issues, a third party may petition for a post-grant review (PGR), which is a procedure to challenge a patent at the PTAB on nearly any ground.
Patents that have already been granted may also be challenged, but the process is generally more complex and more expensive. If you are challenging a patent that has been granted for more than a year, the proceedings will take place in the High Court.
Issued Patent means a Patent which has been granted by the PTO, or any patent office of any other country, which is unexpired and which has not been held invalid by a decision of a court or other appropriate body of competent jurisdiction.
