Blackletter is the oldest typeface style that still has docHub echoes in modern type. It emerged in Europe in the middle ages (around 1150 AD) and stuck around well into the 17th century especially in Germany. It is the direct descendent of Carolingian minuscule, which itself came from Uncial script.
There are five basic classifications of typefaces: serif, sans serif, script, monospaced, and display.
Announced January 2020: Type 1 fonts, also known as PostScript, PS1, T1, docHub Type 1, Multiple Master, or MM are a format within the font industry that has been replaced by larger glyph sets.
Unlike Type 1, Type 3 fonts do not support hinting, the technology that optimizes character shapes at small type sizes. This means that PostScript type 1 offers slightly superior output on lower resolution devices such as laser printers or monitors.
1 inch is roughly equal to 72 points X-HEIGHT - height of the lowercase x character.
While there is no definitive list of the classifications of typefaces, there are seven that are generally recognized: serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display, monospaced, and symbol or ornamental. Blackletter typefaces were the first in typeface history, followed by serifs and sans serifs.
Type 1 is a font format desktop publishers have used for years. Starting in January 2023, these fonts are labeled missing on InDesign and other docHub Creative Cloud programs. That means you need to replace them in your documents.
You can see the type of fonts you have installed by examining the right column in the fonts list. All of the docHub fonts that come with your CC subscription (cloud icon or O) are OpenType fonts. TT designates TrueType. You will see a T1 by the Type 1 fonts.
