Also, please like and leave a comment, and share the video to help spread this free series of videos. Thanks for your help. In this video we will cover standard ACLs, access control lists. Ill be splitting up ACLs into two days, this video and the next one, Day 35, which will cover another kind of ACL. ACLs are in the exam topics under section 5, security fundamentals. Specifically, topic 5.6, which says you must be able to configure and verify access control lists. It doesnt specify IPv4 or IPv6, but for the CCNA you just have to learn IPv4 ACLs. Perhaps later Ill make an extra video introducing IPv6 ACLs, but currently its not necessary for the CCNA. Heres what well cover in todays video. First, what are ACLs? Ill introduce their basic purpose. Ill talk about ACL logic, how they are actually processed by the router. Ill introd

In computer security, an access-control list (ACL) is a list of permissions associated with a system resource (object). An ACL specifies which users or system processes are granted access to objects, as well as what operations are allowed on given objects.
The ACL is executed in the below order: The condition must evaluate to true. The script must evaluate to true or return an answer variable with the value of true. The user must have one of the roles in the required roles list.
The maximum size of an ACL is 64 kilobytes (KB), or approximately 1,820 ACEs.
Components of an access control list Sequence number. The sequence number shows the identity of the object in the ACL entry. ACL name. This identifies an ACL using a name instead of a number. Comments. Network protocol. Source and destination. Log.
An access control list (ACL) contains rules that grant or deny access to certain digital environments. There are two types of ACLs: Filesystem ACLs━filter access to files and/or directories. Filesystem ACLs tell operating systems which users can access the system, and what privileges the users are allowed.
ACLs permits the denial of traffic from specific IP addresses to a specific destination IP address and port. It also can permit the specification of different types of traffic such as ICMP, TCP, UDP, etc.
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the key ligaments that help stabilize the knee joint. The ACL connects the thighbone (femur) to the shinbone (tibia). Its most commonly torn during sports that involve sudden stops and changes in direction such as basketball, soccer, tennis and volleyball.
Network ACLs are stateless, which means that if request is allowed via Inbound rule then response should be allowed via Outbound rule (vice versa). Inbound and Outbound rules must be present in order to allow perticular traffic. Rule number range starts from 1 to 32766.
The ACL is executed in the below order: The condition must evaluate to true. The script must evaluate to true or return an answer variable with the value of true. The user must have one of the roles in the required roles list.
The most common examples of these are web servers, DNS servers, and remote access or VPN systems. The internal router of a DMZ contains more restrictive ACLs designed to protect the internal network from more defined threats.
