Traits MUST be suffixed by Trait : e.g. Psr\Foo\BarTrait . PSR-1, 4, and 12 MUST be followed. For code released as part of a PSR, the vendor namespace MUST be Psr and the Composer package name MUST be psr/ (e.g., psr/log ).
Overriding a trait function Lets create a simple trait and use it in a class. Executing (new MyClass)-sayHi(); will output trait says hi. The trait function can be overridden simply by defining a function with the same name in the class. Now (new MyClass)-sayHi(); will output class says hi.
To define a trait in PHP, use the trait keyword followed by the trait name and curly braces {} enclosing the traits methods. Traits can contain method declarations but not properties.
PHP only supports single inheritance: a child class can inherit only from one single parent. So, what if a class needs to inherit multiple behaviors? OOP traits solve this problem. Traits are used to declare methods that can be used in multiple classes.
Traits are a mechanism for code reuse in single inheritance languages such as PHP. A Trait is intended to reduce some limitations of single inheritance by enabling a developer to reuse sets of methods freely in several independent classes living in different class hierarchies.
In PHP, it is possible to use multiple traits in a single class using the use keyword followed by the names of the traits separated by commas. This allows a class to reuse code from multiple traits, providing more flexibility and reducing code duplication.
