Radix Sort becomes less efficient when the range of the input data exceeds the number of data points. It requires more space compared to in-place sort algorithms like Quick Sort; hence, its not as space-efficient. Modifications are necessary for it to handle floating-point numbers, negative integers, and strings.
Because it copies more than a constant number of elements at some time, we say that merge sort does not work in place. By contrast, both selection sort and insertion sort do work in place, since they never make a copy of more than a constant number of array elements at any one time.
Binary MSD radix sort, also called binary quicksort, can be implemented in-place by splitting the input array into two bins - the 0s bin and the 1s bin. The 0s bin is grown from the beginning of the array, whereas the 1s bin is grown from the end of the array.
Insertion sort is a simple sorting algorithm that works by building a sorted array one element at a time. It is considered an in-place sorting algorithm, meaning it doesnt require any additional memory space beyond the original array.
It is important to note that radix sort cannot be used to sort a data set containing non-integers (numbers with decimals).
Radix 64 or base 64 is a binary-to-text encoding system that is designed to allow binary data to be represented in ASCII string format. This is an educational project accepts a string from a user and Radix 64 encodes it.
