feature to the program the first thing you need to do in order to use this is you need to have some kind of an outline of a design in order to fill so Iamp;#39;m just going to use circle for demonstration purposes and Iamp;#39;m just going to draw that circle now and then you need to select that item in order to fill it there are two ways that you can add the motif fill to your object you can use a quick menu and it is right here or you can select it from the stitch type down here Iamp;#39;m going to use the stitch type just because thatamp;#39;s what I typically do and you would do it right here if you use the quick menu you still can change the attributes to this so weamp;#39;re going to select multi still and once I do that youamp;#39;ll see we have a category here for it but youamp;#39;ll notice that most of these are grayed out what you need to do in order to get these so that you could even select the pattern file name which is right here is you need to turn auto motif on

symbol. Motifs use symbolism to refer to themes, but motifs and symbols are not the same. The easiest way to remember the difference is this: Motifs must recur throughout the story; symbols can appear just once. A story can contain many symbols that arent motifs.
Motifs should be designed from left to right, so that when they are used they are connected in sequence at the start and end points. Generally, the first and last points should be on the left and right of the motif respectively. This is so the motif can be used without it overlapping itself.
In order to use a motif, it is important to be aware of what underlying theme or idea is being reflecting by the motif: Identify an important theme. Emphasize this theme by placing a recurring idea, image, or symbol within the composition.
Lesson Summary. A motif is a recurring symbol. It is a common literary device that helps to establish a theme or mood. Motifs can be almost anything: a repeated quote like in Fight Club, an object like in Lord of the Flies, or a theme like in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
The single dominant motif in the course of new Labour was that it was not old Labour. There are many such recurring motifs, simply, objectively introduced but gaining significance each time they reappear.
Motifs repeat to point the reader towards the storys big idea (i.e. its theme). It also serves to reinforce the theme. Please note that motifs are not always symbols. They can be recurring sounds, emotions, settings, phrases, etc.
How to Come Up with Motifs in Your Novel Generating Ideas for Motifs. Once you work to develop the themes in your novel, you can create some motifs. Come Up with an Object. Think about your protagonist. Move from Object to Concept. Reinforce the Motif. Freewriting and Word Association.
Examples of this motif include Romeo comparing Juliet to the sun, the two of them discussing the light of the moon, descriptions of their love as a lightning strike, and the Friar comparing their love to fire and gunpowder. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck: the motif of soft things returns over and over in the novel.
