hi im scott from moneynerd and today were looking at seven reasons not to pay your parking ticket so theres two types of parking tickets one is government issued and its like a fine or its the equivalent to a speeding ticket so theyre theyre legally backed by the government and these can get bailiffs knocking on your door if it gets escalated all the way up to the bailiffs and the second one is a private company and this is where its essentially an invoice theyre seeing that youve had an infection and theyre saying youve used our service heres an invoice for uh for using our service now all seven of these that well go through today apply for both government and private companies and youve got a good chance of appealing against the parking tickets whether it be government or private so lets get into it but before we do uh please consider subscribing ive got lots of videos on money and debt and personal finance okay so number one is if the road markings are unclear perha

When to appeal a parking ticket You were parked correctly. The parking signs or road markings were unclear. There was no way to pay. You were charged too much. You werent driving when the ticket was issued. You couldnt get back to your car. Your car broke down. You were only just out of time.
Your traffic ticket or the notice you got in the mail from the court has information on how to plead guilty (or no contest) and pay. You can usually do this online, by mail, or in person.
State law requires a parking ticket be dismissed if it is incomplete, illegible, misdescribed or missing information. When conducting a hearing, the Department of Finance will review recently issued summonses for these defects and if any exist, the ticket will be dismissed.
If you want, you can pay the bail listed on your courtesy notice instead of going to court. (Also, see the Traffic Bail Schedule.) If your case is a misdemeanor or felony, the Santa Clara County Superior Court will decide on the bail.
You do not need to appear in court unless you want to contest your citation or your appearance is required. However, you must resolve your case ON OR BEFORE the court date / due date listed at the bottom of your citation.
You could face failure to appear charges if you do not go to court or pay your fine after receiving a traffic ticket in California. In this situation, you could face criminal charges. You could also have a bench warrant issued in your name.
The short answer is, no. Legally, you are allowed to refuse to sign the traffic ticket. Nobody can force you to sign.
Getting a traffic ticket for only going 9 mph is definitely bad luck, but you still were speeding. Unfortunately, cops almost always show up for traffic court, as its their duty and job to do so.
