To turn on erase mode when using a Mac, press and hold the tilde (~) key on your keyboard whilst painting. If youre using Windows, press and hold the backtick (`) key. To turn off erase mode, let go of the key and you can paint as normal.
The keyboard shortcut for the eraser is the letter E. To cycle through all three eraser tools, hold down the Shift key while repeatedly pressing the shortcut key. The erasers act like paintbrushes in reverse. Instead of laying down color, they pick it up.
The Eraser Tool can make pixels transparent or match them to the image background color. Select the Eraser Tool (E) . Use the tool options bar to customize tool settings, like Size and Hardness, to get the effect you want. Drag over the parts of the image you want to erase.
The shortcut for the Eraser tool in Photoshop is simply pressing the E key on your keyboard.
Photoshop is using your Background color, which is currently Black. Use the keyboard shortcut of D to reset to the default colors.
