Does AMI include volume?

An AMI can be set to include one or more EBS volumes, but those volumes will be blank on boot, they will not contain the data which the original source machine contained.

How do I create my own AMI?

Log in to the AWS Management Console, display the EC2 page for your region, then click Instances. Choose the instance from which you want to create a custom AMI. Click Actions and click Create Image. Type a name for Image Name that is easily identifiable to you and, optionally, input text for Image Description.

Does AMI include data?

Note: Instances created from AMIs do not retain or copy any data stored in instance store volumes. The source instance you create the AMI from retains all data that is stored in the instance store.

What is the recommended strategy for spot Instances?

We recommend using the price-capacity-optimized strategy because this strategy automatically provisions instances from the most-available Spot Instance pools that also have the lowest possible price.

Which state does the instance enter when you launch it for the first time?

An instance enters the pending state when it launches for the first time, or when it is started after being in the stopped state. The instance is running and ready for use. The instance is preparing to be stopped or stop-hibernated. The instance is shut down and cannot be used.

How do you find a spot instance?
