whats your name or I can ask the question like this could you tell me what your name is and this sounds more polite than just asking the question like this whats your name could you tell me what your name is this is a question because of the way its asked here could you tell me the question the embedded question is here what your name is the subject name and the verb is comes after it this word order is very important over here the subject is name and then the verb is about verb comes before the subject in this statement Im not sure what his name is this is the embedded question but this is a statement beginning here Im not sure you can also say something like I dont know but youre not asking a question so the word order is important the subject is name and the verb is in a question the question would look like this what is his name and then you put a question mark but if you dont know and you need to make that kind of a statement then youd say this Im not sure what his name

The embedded questions usually begin with introductory phrases such as: Do you know I wonder The question is Would you mind Could you tell me Id like to know Lets ask Im not sure
Embedded questions are introduced by whether, whether or not, and if when there is no question word in the sentence (yes/no questions). Will he be there? Do you know if he will be there?
An embedded question is a question that occurs as a subordinate clause rather than as the main clause of the sentence. For example, what you wrote is a question embedded in the sentence I asked what you wrote.
Embedded questions are sentences that contain a question within them, often used to seek information or clarification. Instead of forming a direct question, they are integrated into a larger sentence. For example, I wonder if you could tell me where the nearest coffee shop is? incorporates the question seamlessly.
Embedding refers to the process of inserting one sentence into another sentence. It includes putting questions into affirmative sentences, with a subsequent change in word order (embedded questions). I wonder if you could tell me what time it is? is the question What time is it?
Forming embedded questions If there is a question word, we keep it. If there is no question word, we use if or whether. We use normal sentence grammar (so we dont need do / does / did). We use normal sentence word order (subject + verb, not the opposite).
Use a question mark at the end of a direct question. This means the questions are asked directly. Indirect questions are embedded within a declarative sentence.
