What does a good peer review look like? Start with a (very) brief summary of the paper. Next, give the Editor an overview of what you thought of the paper. The rest of your review should provide detailed comments about the manuscript. Remember that you have two audiences: the Editor and the authors.
Look for the refereed icon which is shaped like an umpires jersey. Refereed is another term for peer reviewed, so this symbol indicates the journal is peer reviewed. Here is an example of Ulrichs search results with the refereed icon circled.
When you locate the journal in your search results, an icon which looks like a referee shirt (see image below) will display in the results if your journal is peer reviewed. The absence of this icon means that your journal is not peer reviewed.
Another very common peer feedback template is the standard peer review template, which provides constructive criticism in a non-threatening manner. It can be used to help peers improve their work behavior by letting them know what they are doing right along with areas where they can improve.
Here are some steps for you Title page:It includes the Authors name, affiliation Body: This includes the subtopics that you are addressing. Conclusion: Should briefly explain the review and the purpose of the article Literature cited: Should be in a standardized form2 more rows
The best way to structure your review is to: Open your review with the most important commentsa summarization of the research and your impression of the research. Make sure to include feedback on the strengths, as well as the weaknesses, of the manuscript. End the review with any additional remarks or suggestions.
How do you write a peer review for a coworker? Reflection. Think about your coworkers strengths and weaknesses, taking into consideration all aspects of their work. Clear and actionable feedback. Be specific, provide concrete examples and give suggestions that your peers can act on. Constructive criticism. Praise.
Most commonly the format is (1) Summary, (2) Decision, (3) Major Concerns, and (4) Minor Concerns (see also Structure Diagram above). There is also often a multiple choice form to rate the paper on a number of criteria.
