[Music] [Music] now back in november 2019 through to january 2020 i had my very first exhibition for my world war ii veterans portraits project the portraits on display were printed at around about 20 inches on the longest edge and so many people commented that the portraits looked as though they were coming forward of the paper and if you docHubed out you could touch the faces now that was largely down to a technique in photoshop that i call 2010 and in this video i want to show you exactly how its done [Music] now before i show you the technique let me just explain the idea behind it and why it works so well when we look at photographs even though theyre printed on a flat piece of paper we know that what were looking at isnt flat and two-dimensional in real life you see when we look at a picture and you have light and dark areas as a general rule of thumb the lighter areas appear closer and the darker areas appear further back this is what gives it depth and dimension for example

Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick settings panel. Look for the screen orientation icon. Depending on your settings, you may need to look for the Portrait, Landscape, or Auto Rotate icon.
Launch the camera app on your phone. Swipe to the right or tap the Portrait option at the bottom of the screen. You can now click images in portrait mode. If you want to click selfies, switch to the front-facing camera by hitting the button to the left of the shutter.
How to adjust the background blur after taking a photo Take a photo using Portrait mode with one of the iPhone models listed above. Open the Photos app and tap Edit. The depth control slider will open along with your photo in the edit screen. Move the slider until the desired blur is achieved. Tap Done.
You can also use Portrait Mode with the front-facing camera on iPad Pro 11-inch (all generations) and iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later). To use Portrait mode, open the Camera app and swipe to Portrait mode. Move farther away from your subject if the app suggests it.
Open the Photos app. Select the Portrait mode photo that you want to turn into a regular photo. Tap Edit. Tap the yellow Portrait button to disable the feature.

After you take a photo in Portrait mode, you can remove the Portrait mode effect if you don't like it. In the Photos app , open the photo, tap Edit, then tap Portrait to turn the effect on or off.
