How to request an employment verification letter Find out who sends employment verification letters on behalf of your employer. Follow your employers procedures for requesting employment verification letters. Be specific about details you need. Provide the recipients mailing address. Give your employer plenty of notice.
You may correct your information with DHS or SSA. For more information, see the Further Action Notice provided by your employer or visit our How to Process a Tentative Nonconfirmation (Mismatch) page. After the verification process is complete, you still have the opportunity to access and correct your information.
From the Review Case screen, you can correct information before submitting the case by selecting the Edit Case Details button. If you need more time to verify the information is correct, you may click Save Exit to exit the case. You can locate the case later under View/Search Cases.
After youve typed a reason, click Close Case. E-Verify displays an alert indicating the case was successfully closed. Record the E-Verify Case Number on the employees Form I-9, or click the link to View/Print Case Details and attach a copy of the case details page to the Form I-9.

Hi [HR personnel or employees manager], My name is [Employees name], and I would like to request for an employee verification letter to confirm my current employment under [Company name]. The reason is because I [state the reason you need the letter for], and they have asked to verify my [details of employment].
If you decide not to take action to resolve the mismatch: Your employer may terminate your employment and there are no additional steps for you. You must tell your employer whether you will take action to resolve the mismatch within 10 federal government working days after E-Verify issued the mismatch case result.
