The most important of these tests is called peer review. We can get a better understanding of the role of peer review if we look at the academic publishing process as a whole. When you create a peer review assignment with automatic peer reviews, Canvas will assign peer reviews to students automatically once they have submitted their own assignment. You can also tell Canvas to automatically assign peer reviews after an assignment due date has passed.
Click the green arrow button from the Review column. This will open PeerMark. As soon as this button is clicked, this will delete your first peer submission. You must click the Submit button at the top of PeerMark to submit your review again.
Enabling peer review of a Canvas assignment From within your Canvas course, edit or create a new assignment. Scroll about halfway down the screen, locate and check the box to Require Peer Reviews. Select to assign peer reviews manually or automatically.
On your Dashboard, you can view recent activity in your Global Activity stream. Recent activity will display a peer review and the name of the course. Click the Show More link to access the assignment and view the name of the peer review student. If a peer review is anonymous, the name will show as Anonymous User.
What does a good peer review look like? Start with a (very) brief summary of the paper. Next, give the Editor an overview of what you thought of the paper. The rest of your review should provide detailed comments about the manuscript. Remember that you have two audiences: the Editor and the authors.
The best way to structure your review is to: Open your review with the most important commentsa summarization of the research and your impression of the research. Make sure to include feedback on the strengths, as well as the weaknesses, of the manuscript. End the review with any additional remarks or suggestions.
Instructors cannot edit or delete student peer review comments.
Select the edit icon or double click the mark to open up the comment box. Edit the comment and select Save to save any changes made to the comment. To move a comment, select and hold on the mark symbol and drag the icon to a new location. To delete a comment select the trash can icon.
