Many registrars offer domain ownership protection that protects your domain by prohibiting the transfer, change, or deletion of your domain unless the registered owner explicitly gives permission by submitting a form.
When you delete a domain, you immediately cancel your registration of that domain. As a result: Visitors to your domain dont find your website. You dont get email sent to email addresses at your domain, including email forwarding. DNS stops serving.
A domain name refers to your website address. This is what users type in a browsers search bar to directly access your website. A domain name is unique and cannot be shared between different sites. For example: ovhcloud.com.
Once you register a domain with a specific extension, you cannot change it. The same name with a different extension is considered a different domain name. If you made a mistake or you simply prefer to get another extension, you need to register it separately.
The answer is no. The domain is a completely separate entity from your website. The process of deleting a website is strictly connected to removing physical files, databases, and email accounts associated with it.
You can restore a domain for up to 30 days after its been deleted. This includes domains that you manually deleted or that are automatically deleted after their registration expires. To restore a domain after its been deleted, you must pay a one-time restoration fee. Google Domains cant waive this fee.
In the Google Cloud console, go to the Cloud Domains page. On the Registrations page, select the domain name that you want to delete. Next to the domain name that you want to delete, click morevertMore. To remove the domain, click deleteDelete.
Canceling your domain will remove it from your account immediately, and any products using the canceled domain will stop working. If youre not using the domain, you can list your domain for sale instead of removing it from your account completely.
