You can launch multiple instances from a single AMI when you require multiple instances with the same configuration. You can use different AMIs to launch instances when you require instances with different configurations.
To delete all snapshots from vCenter Server: Choose Inventory Virtual Machine Snapshot Snapshot Manager. Click Delete All to permanently remove all snapshots. Click Yes in the confirmation dialog. Click Close to exit the Snapshot Manager.
Share an AMI (console) In the navigation pane, choose AMIs. Select your AMI in the list, and then choose Actions, Edit AMI permissions. Choose Private. Under Shared accounts, choose Add account ID. For AWS account ID, enter the AWS account ID with which you want to share the AMI, and then choose Share AMI.
Restore the AMI from an EC2 instance If both the AMI and the snapshots are deleted, you can recover the AMI from any EC2 instance that launched using the deleted AMI.
Terminated instances remain visible after termination (for approximately one hour). By default, Amazon EC2 deletes all EBS volumes that were attached when the instance launched.
You can use the AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI) to start an image export task using VM Import/Export. Then, a copy of your Amazon Machine Image (AMI) is exported as a VM file and written to an Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) bucket.
To delete a snapshot using the console Open the Amazon EC2 console at . In the navigation pane, choose Snapshots. Select the snapshot to delete, and then choose Actions, Delete snapshot. Choose Delete.
Click on the instance youre curious about, and then under the Description tab, scroll down to Block devices, and click on the appropriate EBS volume. This will pop up an attribute box which will state the Delete on Termination flag.
Open the Amazon Connect console at . Select the radio button for the instance. Choose Delete. If you dont see the Delete button, you dont have permissions to delete instances. When prompted, enter the name of the instance and then choose Delete.
In the navigation pane, choose Snapshots. Select a snapshot to delete (look for the AMI ID from the prior step in the Description column). Choose Actions, Delete snapshot. When prompted for confirmation, choose Delete.
