in this tutorial Iamp;#39;ll make the image darker in CSS okay so I have a simple HTML boilerplate here and the only element in the body here is an image element so thatamp;#39;s what we have on the page right now Iamp;#39;m linking to this style sheet Iamp;#39;ve given the image a height of 500 pixels now letamp;#39;s say we want to make it a little bit darker well the easiest way to do this is simply to use the filter property and use the brightness function so we can say brightness and one is going to be the same as now so we can also make it 50 and youamp;#39;ll get a slightly darker image right could also be 0.2 the lower the darker itamp;#39;s going to be right second option is to actually simply use opacity all right let me actually undo that so um this is the original now we can say opacity we can say 0.5 and itamp;#39;s actually going to make it uh see-through so um depends a little bit on your background on what the specific effect will be but if the body for example

CSS has a filter property that can be used with a variety of filter functions. One of them is the brightness() filter. By feeding a percentage less than 100% to brightness() , the target element will be made darker. Inversely, feeding a percentage greater than 100% to brightness() will make the element brighter.
To change the background color when hovering with CSS, you can use the :hover psuedo-class selector. This example will change the background color of an element from #0001 to #000F when it is hovered. For more information on psuedo-classes and hover effects, you can read here.
What is the CSS code to make text darker? - Quora. Using the calc function with + or - operator over the CSS custom property --color-company-red-l , we can reduce or increase, the light so, with less light is dark and more is lightened.
Simply add the appropriate CSS selector and define the color property with the value you want. For example, say you want to change the color of all paragraphs on your site to navy. Then youd add p {color: #000080; } to the head section of your HTML file.
The filter property is used to apply various graphical effects to an element. The brightness() function can be used as a value to apply a linear multiplier to make it appear darker or lighter than the original. To make an image darker, any value below 100% could be used to darken the image by that percentage.
You can use color-mix() and mix the color with black (or white) to create different shades from the same color. As a side note, darken() is also doing the same thing: Makes a color darker. Takes a color and a number between 0% and 100%, and returns a color with the lightness decreased by that amount.
Values. Brightness specified as a or a . A value less than 100% darkens the input image or element, while a value over 100% brightens it. A value of 0% creates a completely black image or element, while a value of 100% leaves the input unchanged.
