Why? Because theres a thin film of water on top of the concrete, some of the light that bounces off the concrete is essentially reflected back at the concrete by the water due to total internal reflection. And because less light is passing through the water and docHubing our eyes, the concrete seems darker.
Some of the light also gets reflected back into the film of water, or scattered off the tiny water-filled holes in the fabric. The combined effect is a reduction in the amount of light docHubing our eyes, which makes the fabric look darker.
Burn and Dodge tool To use these tools, simply select the tool you want to use, then set the brush you want to use and the range (Midtones, Shadows or Highlights) from the options bar. You can also change the exposure of the tool. Once youve set these, you simply brush over the area you want to lighten or darken.
A wet cloth looks darker because less light is reflected from a wet cloth. Any cloth is woven from a yarn or fibre. That fibre is in turn made of smaller micro-fibres. Light comes from the room lights, or from the Sun, and lands on the cloth.
However, when an object is wet, the water layer causes the light to scatter in many directions. Some of this light is absorbed by the object and some is reflected away from our eyes. This scattering and absorption of light makes the object appear darker.
From early childhood we learn to distinguish wet from dry, not just by touch, but also by sight. Most objects, especially those with rough and absorbing surfaces, are darker when wet: they reflect less light.
Press CTRL+ A to select all objects. Go to Edit - edit colors - recolor artwork. Click the edit button on the recolor artwork box. The brightness slider is placed just below the color wheel where you can adjust the brightness. Click preview to see and compare the changes.
Adding water to a dyed fabric inhibits the multiple reflections, so more of the light has a chance to be absorbed by the dyes. Therefore, adding water to a heavily dyed shirt does not make it more transparent. It makes the shirt have a darker, more saturated color.
