and if you want to make it darker instead of brighter, use a percentage for the brightness, like: img. customClass:hover{ filter: brightness(75%); transition: . 2s; }
Heres how to make this effect happen: In your HTML, create a div with the class fade-in-image. Place your image inside this div. In your CSS, give your fade-in-image class the declaration animation: fadeIn 5s. In the CSS, use the @keyframes rule paired with fadeIn.
To set the opacity of a background, image, text, or other element, you can use the CSS opacity property. Values for this property range from 0 to 1. If you set the property to 0, the styled element will be completely transparent (ie. invisible).
You can adjust the brightness of an image using the filter property in CSS. You can specify the degree from 0% (original) to 100% (completely black). In the above example, the brightness of the image has been reduced to 80% of its original value.
The brightness() function can be used as a value to apply a linear multiplier to make it appear darker or lighter than the original. To make an image darker, any value below 100% could be used to darken the image by that percentage.
CSS background-image property allows layering multiple backgrounds. To darken an image, combine a black `linear-gradient` as the front layer and the image as the back layer. Adjust the gradients opacity to control the darkening effect. Specify the front layer first in the order of `background-image`.
