hi this is melissa from resilience law and im coming to you live from home today uh and i had a quick uh thought i guess on how social security handles veterans uh and how they treat them uh if youre applying for social security disability as a veteran you probably have already uh explored the option to get a va disability rating and so social security will look uh at whether or not you have your va disability rating however they make their own decision and its based off different rules than the va system so even if you do have a va disability rating where youre found fully disabled that does not necessarily mean that youre automatically entitled to social security disability however what it does give you is it gives you expedited processing uh so you know when you file your initial claim itll be processed more quickly than a typical claim and kind of as you go up through the levels youre always going to be entitled to a faster processing particularly at the appeals council leve
