Many applications include fields labeled employer name in the section about your previous work experience. These fields are where you write the names of the companies youve worked for previously. On paper applications, in which you have limited space, you can include your most recent or relevant jobs.
What is an employer? An employer is a person or business that hires an individual to perform work. An employer might be an individual, company, organization, government agency, institution or nonprofit organization. The employer pays an employee following employment contract terms.
Be brief and to the point. Your future employer doesnt need to know all the details. In fact, we advise you to discuss the reason for being fired only if youre asked. Avoid the words I was fired, use more neutral phrases such as let go, role termination, or even mutual separation if relevant to your situation
How to write work experience in a resume The work experience section of your resume should contain specific information about your employment history, including: Provide the full, official names of the companies for which youve worked starting with your most recent followed by the next most recent, and so on.
If you prefer, you can simply write job ended, laid off, or terminated on your job application.
As you update your resume to reflect company name changes, consider the brand and name recognition as this can influence the perceived value of your previous work experiences. If you think its beneficial to include both company names in your resume, do so by listing the current company name followed by its last name.
Typically, it relates to the name of an organization or company where youve previously worked. However, the employer name in a sentence may also pertain to the current employer youre working for at the time of application. It doesnt refer to your supervisor or boss.
Some of the terms you could use instead of quit include: Pursuing other opportunities. Resigned. Voluntary separation.
