When you want to replace a number in the CSV file, you also need to insert the prefix, REMOVE| in front of the old number. Remove all phone numbers with the word REMOVE in place of the numbers.
How to save your Contacts list as a CSV file in Excel/Google Sheets/Numbers Google Sheets. Select File Download as Comma-separated values (.csv, current sheet) Microsoft Excel. Click File Save As This PC. Under Save as type: dropdown, choose CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) Apple Numbers. Click File Export To CSV.
To preserve all the digits in text-formatted numbers, you have to import the downloaded CSV file as raw data into a new Excel spreadsheet, set the column datatypes as needed, and then save the new file as an Excel workbook. Excel (XLSX) files will preserve these formats, CSV files wont.
Steps to retain initial 0 when importing a CSV into Excel and saving the file: Once you open the CSV file, right-click the column letter and select Format Cells. In the Format Cells window, choose Custom. Set the format to 00000000 for example to represent a field of length 8. Save the file as a . CSV.
Phone numbers can be entered in common formats to make the numbers more readable for users. Examples include, but are not limited to: (123) 456-7890, 123 456 7890, 456-7890, and +(123) 456-7890. Note that bridge numbers, passcodes, or user extensions are typically separated from phone numbers with commas.
One suggestion is to put an apostrophe in front of the number when you export the data to CSV format. So instead of 12345678901234567890 export 12345678901234567890 . Excel is treating the data as a floating point number, which it is able to approximate as 1.23457E+19.
Select a column, then choose the type of data you want to import it as. For numbers you want treated as text - zip codes, phone numbers, lat/long, ID numbers - anything you dont want to do calculations on - choose TEXT. You can also choose date or other formats for the appropriate columns.
Use the import wizard where you can set the data type for the columns to import the data correctly. Associate .csv file extensions to Notepad. Use a VBA sub routine to set the data types on opening.
