With a 3.3 GPA, youre eligible to apply for many scholarships. While some may require a 3.5 or higher, they account for only a small portion of available scholarships.
As a top-letter grade, a B+ or A- is considered good. A 3.5 GPA means that a student consistently performs well on homework, tests, and projects in every subject, making it a desirable GPA across the board.
For fellowships and scholarships, common review criteria include: Academic achievement (GPA) Test scores. Personal statements. Resumes or CVs. Application essays. Supplemental essays. Letters of recommendation. Extracurricular achievements.
Although a strong GPA helps increase your chances of getting a full-ride scholarship, you dont need a perfect 4.0 to be qualified. In fact, GPA requirements are most commonly set at a 3.0 average, with whats considered to be a good GPA typically being a score between 3.5 and 3.8.
Scholarship Application Essay Tips Plan ahead. Dont procrastinate! Talk about your accomplishments. Be clear and to the point. State your need. What is your financial situation? Keep it simple. Dont use unnecessary words (i.e., dont use three words when one will do) Make it easy on your reader.
10 Ways to Stand Out When Applying for Scholarships Stay Organized. Request Letters of Recommendation in Advance. Pay Attention to Details and Requirements. Dont Copy and Paste Past Essays. Know Your Audience. Emphasize What Makes You Unique. Be Personal and Passionate. Present Yourself Professionally.
How to Calculate GPA. A grade point average (GPA) is calculated by dividing the total amount of grade points earned by the total amount of GPA credits attempted. A GPA may range from 0.0 to a 4.0.
Though a 3.0 or higher GPA increases your chances of earning a larger scholarship, you can still receive one if you have a GPA lower than 3.0. Some scholarships place importance on other criteria, such as financial needs, volunteer experience or involvement in a sport or club.
