When we use ( pen) to write, we use ( ink) instead of (pen). Then we have to use the preposition ( in ) but not ( with). Eg.
A multiple-choice question (MCQ) is composed of two parts: a stem that identifies the question or problem, and a set of alternatives or possible answers that contain a key that is the best answer to the question, and several distractors that are plausible but incorrect answers to the question.
Multiple-choice questions with universal qualifiers such as always, none, never, and all are more likely to be correct than other options.
A multiple-choice question can be formatted by typing the question number and question text. Below the question text, place each answer choice on its own line. The answer choices must begin with a letter (a-t), followed by a period, followed a space, followed by the answer wording.
4. The stem should be a question or a partial sentence. A question stem is preferable because it allows the student to focus on answering the question rather than holding the partial sentence in working memory and sequentially completing it with each alternative (Statman 1988).
14 RULES FOR WRITING MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS. Use Plausible Distractors (wrong-response options) Use a Question Format. Emphasize Higher-Level Thinking. Emphasize Higher-Level Thinking (continued) Keep Option Lengths Similar. Balance the Placement of the Correct Answer. Be Grammatically Correct.
In the directions, instruct students to select the best answer rather than the correct answer. In the directions, let students know whether they can guess. Express the full problem in the stem. Put all relevant material in the stem. Keep the stem short. Limit the number of response alternatives.
General Guidelines Use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Items and options should be clear and unambiguous. Content should be independent from item to item. For example, avoid making the answer of one item correctly dependent on knowing the correct answer to another item.
Tips for Writing Multiple-Choice Answer Options Make options similar in grammar, length, complexity, and style. Move repeated text to the stem if possible. Write the correct answer first, and then write the incorrect options in a parallel style. Make all options plausible to students who do not know the correct answer.
But in case of the colour of the ink we use the preposition In instead of With. For example- I wrote a letter With a pen In blue ink. Thus, the answer is - Write the letter in blue ink.
