hello and welcome back to tips and time-savers Im Dani rocks todays lesson is in response to a request from several viewers and many clients who request my help in converting data that is displaying as military time into Standard Time alright lets come over here and take a look first we want to examine the the contents of the column a yes its showing as military time zero 100 hours but is it stored as text or as a number well one way to do that is on the Home tab of the ribbon in Excel 2007 over here in the number group we can see that it is stored as text and that its aligned into the center of the cell another way to do that is to right mouse click one of the cells come down here choose format cells and we can see in fact that this is stored as text well now this gives me direction for how Im going to convert from military time text into Standard Time as a number first Im going to use the left text function the right text function the left text function Im going to use to e
