There are several types of metal wall panels that each serve specific functions, including: Metal composites material panels. Single-skin metal wall panels. Plate panels. Perforated metals. Insulated metal panels. Insulated metal roof panels.
Concealed fastener roof panels are a type of roofing panel joined together by an interlocking seam and fastened with the fasteners or clips hidden under the panels. Most of these roofing options are standing seam roofs and offer higher aesthetic quality.
Concealed fastener wall panels are attached to the substructure without visible fasteners. Instead, concealed fastener panels are installed with clips and/or screws hidden behind the face of the panel.
Concealed fasteners are the ones that you cant see when you look at your roof, due to the fact that they go under your roof panels as opposed to on top of them. Since they are beneath your roofing panels, this has many benefits, but just like exposed fasteners, concealed fasteners have their cons too.
Concealed Fasteners Are More Weathertight By having the fasteners hidden or using clips where there are no penetrating holes into the roof, standing seam are more resistant to leaks. On the contrary, exposed fasteners leave gaps between the fasteners and the panels.
A hidden fastener metal roof (also called standing seam) is a series of metal panels locked together at the seams or seamed mechanically. The name comes from the fact that the fasteners are hidden underneath the metal panels. The fasteners are installed under each rib (seam) to allow the panels to glide back and forth.
Slope or Pitch: As mentioned, a minimum slope of 2/12 is usually required for standing seam metal roofs, meaning the roof must rise at least 2 for every 12 of horizontal span. This minimal slope ensures effective water runoff and prevents pooling, which can lead to leaks and damage.
Lifespan of Exposed Fastener Metal Roofing When properly installed and maintained, exposed fastener metal roofing can last upwards of 40 to 60 years or more. However, the lifespan of the roof can be influenced by factors such as climate, exposure to harsh weather conditions, and the quality of installation.
