TIF image with all background areas transparent, click on the TIFF Options tab in the Export Options dialog. Check the Application background (if available) option. The . TIF file will have transparent background areas.
If you want to save your new image with its transparent background, choose either TIFF, PNG, or GIF formats. These formats support image transparency.
Due to its lossless compression, TIFF files tend to be larger in size compared to other formats like JPEG. This can make them less suitable for web and online sharing, where smaller file sizes are preferred for faster loading times.
Like JPEGs, TIFFs are a raster graphic file, but this format uses lossless compression to retain image data. This means that TIFF files are generally large. They tend to take up a lot of drive space and can be impossible to send via email.
PNG files tend to be much smaller and more compatible with programs than TIFF while still offering excellent quality and lossless compression. TIFF format files offer professional-level quality, increased color support, and layer support at the expense of larger size and less compatibility.
Transparency. While TIFF files do support transparency, theyre incompatible with many web-based programs. Only applications that fully support TIFF files will support TIFF transparency. In some instances, you may need to edit a TIFF file to get the results you need.
Are PNG or TIFF files better for photos? TIFF files are better for print photography while PNGs work best for screens. Neither option, however, is ideal for web use due to their large file size.
