Click near the edge of your text. Drag the tool until youve created a rough outline around the text. Make sure to leave a thin border around it. This action helps Photoshop to do a better job of blending the background after you remove the text.
Open Photoshop and import the desired image and shape files. Arrange the shape layer below the image layer in the Layers panel. Select the image layer and navigate to the Layer menu. From the drop-down menu, choose Create Clipping Mask or use the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+G (Windows) or Cmd+Option+G (Mac).

Select the smaller text layer. Click the Layer Mask icon (third from the left at the bottom of the Layers panel) to mask out the rest of the text. Hide the visibility of the text from Step 2 or delete that layer unless you want to keep it to change its color.
Understanding Quick Mask in Photoshop To enable or disable Quick Mask Mode, simply press the Q key on your keyboard.
1 In the Layers palette, highlight the layer you want to affect. 2 Click on the mask icon. (It looks like a Japanese flag.) 3 Use a brush to paint over the areas you want to remove an effect from.
In the menu, choose Layer Add Layer Mask Hide All. Then reveal the drop shadow in the places where you want it seen. Use Command + click on Mac or Control + click on Windows on the Layers palette thumbnail for the mask. Once the selection is active, fill it with white to reveal those areas on the shadows layer.
