Google sheets recently introduced a new feature called Sheets Smart Cleanup. With this feature, you get to do two things. Number one, is it takes a look at your data set, and tries to find out if there could be any problems in that dataset, for example, are there any duplicates in that data set? Is there anything that might be spelled incorrectly? So it gives you a chance to fix your dataset before you analyze it. And number two is that it can take a look at a column, and give you these statistics based on that column. Okay so weamp;#39;re going to take a first look at these two features together, lets jump in. (upbeat music) First of letamp;#39;s take a look at columns statistics. Excels does not equal operator is simple: a pair of brackets pointing away from each other, like so: . Whenever Excel sees this symbol in your formulas, it will assess whether the two statements on opposite sides of these brackets are equal to one another.
The only time I typically see an exclamation point in an excel formula is when referencing a cell on a different sheet. For example, if you have a workbook with two sheets, Sheet1 and Sheet2, you might have a formula on Sheet1 that is =Sheet2! A1, which would return the value of cell A1 on Sheet2.
! is a separator in Excel which separates Sheet Name with that of the Cell reference. ! is suffixed to the sheet name. For example, =Sheet1! A19. This indicates A19 value in Sheet1.
This punctuation mark is called an exclamation point: ! It is placed at the end of a sentence to add emphasis to the written text. An exclamation mark is a grammatical sign used to express strong feelings, such as anger or joy, in a written text. It can also be used to indicate a forceful command or statement.
Examples. Single Cell Reference: Sheet1! A1 This means cell A1 on Sheet1. Range of Cells Reference: Sheet2! A1:B2 This means the range from cell A1 to cell B2 on Sheet2.
This adds the worksheet name followed by an exclamation mark right before the range, which tells VLOOKUP which worksheet we want to use to pull data. The formula then searches for the value in B2 in the A15:B25 range on Sheet2. It then returns a match from column 2 in our designated cell on Sheet1.
An exclamation mark separates a sheet name from a cell name.
Answer and Explanation: In Microsoft Excel, an exclamation point is applied to differentiate a sheet name from a cell reference used in a formula. This delimiter (!) is utilized when the formula written one sheet uses a cell reference of a different sheet.
