you ever get those little aging liver spots on your skin if you do iamp;#39;m going to show you how to get rid of them iamp;#39;m going to show you whatamp;#39;s behind them okay now you can call them aging spots dark spots or liver spots but in actuality itamp;#39;s not necessarily the liver thatamp;#39;s causing those spots itamp;#39;s really just too much of this thing right here called melanin okay melanin is a pigment on your skin itamp;#39;s what gives your skin a certain color and this pigment protects against uv radiation the sun gives off a lot of different waves or you could say radiation itamp;#39;s like uv waves you have the visible light spectrum which involves all these different colors and then you have infrared and so if you got the sun youamp;#39;re constantly getting hit by certain amounts of radiation and melanin is there to protect you against this uv uh very specific band of energy and so this pigment melanin is very similar to the pigment in plants okay l

Using Beers law, it can be shown that about 95% of the electrons will escape from a depth of 10 nm or less, and 10 nm is often cited as the information depth for XPS.
X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy is used to determine quantitative atomic composition and chemistry. It is a surface analysis technique with a sampling volume that extends from the surface to a depth of approximately 50-100 .
Because XPS is a surface technique, there is a limited amount of organic information XPS can provide. XPS is limited to measurements of elements having atomic numbers of 3 or greater, making it unable to detect hydrogen or helium. XPS spectra also take a long time to obtain.
XPS spectra are obtained by irradiating a solid surface with a beam of X-rays while simultaneously measuring the kinetic energy of electrons that are emitted from the top 1-10 nm of the material being analyzed. A photoelectron spectrum is recorded by counting ejected electrons over a range of electron kinetic energies.
The average depth of analysis for an XPS measurement is approximately 5 nm. PHI XPS instruments provide the ability to obtain spectra with a lateral spatial resolution as small as 7.5 m. Spatial distribution information can be obtained by scanning the micro focused x-ray beam across the sample surface.
X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) or Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (ESCA) is a technique which analyzes the elements constituting the sample surface, its composition, and chemical bonding state by irradiating x-rays on the sample surface, and measuring the kinetic energy of the photoelectrons emitted
XPS is routinely used to determine a) the composition of material surfaces (elemental identification), the relative abundances of these components on surfaces (semi-quantitative analysis), and c) the chemical state of polyvalent ions by measuring the binding energies of elements, which is related to the nature and
