so i found that uh when you want to engrave an image in the glass instead of using black paint on glass is what i normally used to get that frosted look like itamp;#39;s been chemically etched i found a new compound thatamp;#39;s better in the case of tile this is tile itamp;#39;s a lot darker than normal this new compound leaves a higher contrast image it does spray on in one layer coat washes off with water and brillo pads steel wool donamp;#39;t have to use paint thinner anymore so basically what weamp;#39;re talking about using is rust-oleumamp;#39;s cold galvanized compound comes in the spray cans about nine bucks for a can of this again use the cold one galvanized itamp;#39;s like 90 some odd percent zinc or something so itamp;#39;s the zinc metal that gets evaporated by the laser here i have a brillo pad and this one is when i just pulled off the laser i have absolutely no idea what the results are going to look like just kind of scrub it down with the old brillo pad bec

Can you polish engraving out?

To remove an engraving, a jeweler has to laser off the metal in the area of the inscription to level out the texture of the metal. Once the engraving is lasered off, the ring will need to be polished to restore it to a smooth blank surface.

How do you smooth metal after engraving?

Use caution when handling materials after engraving. The process can leave burrs and small fragments on metal surfaces and other materials. To smooth rough edges, use a polishing cloth or finishing grit sand paper (360-600 grit) to gently sand them down.

How do you sand off engraving?

Start by selecting coarse-grit sandpaper and attaching it to the sanding block. Hold the sanding block firmly and start sanding the engraved area in a circular motion. Gradually move to finer-grit sandpaper as you smooth out the metal surface.

How to clean after engraving?

Simply wipe off with a moistened cloth, followed by a wipe with a clean, dry cloth. Nano sponges (often referred to as dirt erasers) or erasers can also be very helpful when removing resistant residue.

Can engraving be corrected?

In case of hard metals, any mistake leaves irreversible effects. In soft metals like gold, any erroneous engraving can be corrected by suitable polishing. Any engraving related mistake in case of metal plating or rough surface may not be useful.

How to buff out engraving?

Beginning with the finest sandpaper start to buff the engraved area, stopping to wash and buff dry at regular intervals and increasing the grit until the engraving is gone. If even the most coarse grit sandpaper is not removing the engraving, use a metal file.
