10 Tips: How to Plan a Camping Trip Choose your adventure. The first step in planning your camping trip is to decide what kind of adventure you want. Pick your destination. Time of year/season. Cabin, tent, or RV? Book early. Create an activity itinerary. Make a list and check it twice. Plan your meals.
Use as little toilet paper as possible. To reduce your use of TP, you can wipe off with natural objects such as large leaves (make sure theyre not poisonous), smooth stones and even snowballs. Make sure you have your chosen item handy beforehand. Place TP in a waste bag to pack out.
Just rinsing off in fresh water will remove excess dirt and oils. If thats not your thing or there is no water, bring extra water and biodegradable soap in order to bathe yourself. Just strip down at least 200 feet away from your campsite and 200 feet away from any water source that may exist.
Carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer in your pocket and use it frequently especially after going to the bathroom and before eating. Rub down with isopropyl alcohol on cotton balls each night. Make sure you hit underarms, feet and groin areas. Dont wash your hands in a standing pool of water.
14 Tips from Hikers with a Combined 100,000 Miles of Thru Hiking Prep your feet. Remove debris from inside your shoe. Stop if you feel a hot spot. Elevate your legs and feet. Rinse your feet. Rinse and rotate your hiking socks. Soak your feet in cold water. Let your feet and socks air during breaks.
Depending on how long youll be out in the wild or where youll be, a portable shower or dip in a lake may not be an option. Thankfully, baby wipes and hand sanitizer can do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to staying clean and sanitary. Our favorite sanitary wipe for camping is the Shower Pouch.
10 Tips For Keeping Your Campsite Clean Tidy Choose established campsites. Start with clean gear. Choose reusable camping cookware. Carry a clothesline or clotheshorse. Use camping furniture as much as possible. Use a pop-up hamper as your rubbish bin. Clean your campsite before dark. Watch out for micro-rubbish.
Pack the proper cleaning supplies: Pre-moistened cloths Pack both body and surface wipes for cleaning up before and after meals, or anytime you or an item feels gritty. Trash bags When you leave, your campsite should show no signs you were there.
