The high cost of healthcare in the U.S. poses a financial risk to students, prompting NYU to require all degree-seeking students to maintain health insurance that meets minimum criteria. This ensures access to quality healthcare and financial protection. Most students are automatically enrolled in an NYU-sponsored health insurance plan and charged a premium. To manage enrollment, students can visit nyu.edu/health/insurance during the enroll/waive period to confirm, upgrade, downgrade, or opt out of the NYU plan if they have alternate coverage. Students will need their current insurance card to waive coverage. Changes to health insurance will appear on the NYU bill within 3-5 days, with automatic refunds processed if applicable.
