Before submitting your required documents, ensure that your name, address, numbers (phone and fax), and other identifying information match your account records. That way, everything should go smoothly, and youll be up and running with your new provider within 7 to 10 days, on average.
A typical relocation package usually covers the costs of moving and storing furnishings, household goods, assistance with selling an existing home, costs incurred with house-hunting, temporary housing, and all travel costs by the employee and family to the new location.
Porting is generally a permanent means of moving a phone number to another provider, as the old account associated with the number will be closed. Compare this to forwarding, where the number keeps its old account association, but is forwarding to another number or person instead.
If youre switching service providers and remaining in the same geographic area, you can keep your existing phone number.
The porting process is designed to minimise the time youll be without a service. After youve supplied your new network with the PAC code, your old number will remain active. That means youll still receive calls and texts.
You can continue using your number with your existing provider until the porting process is complete as long as you keep your account active with them. Then, after your number is ported over, you can cancel.
Will my current phone number be active during the port? Yes, it will. During the transfer process, your number will remain active during the process. Youll be able to use your phone number with your original provider up until the port date.
No one does that anymore. I live in Connecticut (203 or 860) and I have had friends whove moved all over the United States. Sometimes moved to several different states over the years and they have never changed their cellular phone number.
