For those who use a name other than their legal name, the issue of what name to use on your resume and cover letter can be very complex. Resumes and cover letters are not legal documents, so it is acceptable to list your preferred name on them.
The simple answer is yes. The filename should include the word resume and your name. By using the same version of your name thats on your resume and your profile, you demonstrate good communication skills.
Tip 2: Include your first and last name pdf. (If you have a common name like John Smith, you might also want to include your middle name as well). This way, recruiters can quickly tell the difference between your resume and those of other candidates.
Option #1: List only the current name of the company. Option #2: List the current name of the company followed by the previous name. Option #3: List the previous name first followed by the current name. Option #4: List your positions separately under each company name. Use a resume checker.
A resume is not a legal document, so it is acceptable to use your preferred name on the resume.
Some people like to provide a company name so that the format looks like their other work, but thats entirely up to you. If you operate under a company name, then use it. If not, you can just describe the type of work youve done and reference the job title youve assigned to yourself.
We advise including your first name and last name, only. We advise displaying your name in a larger, bolder font to make it highly visible, meaning a hiring decision maker can easily find your CV in a pile of job applications.
