Hey this is Ralph in this video I want to show you how easy it is to insert charts into Microsoft Word. Not long ago I had to create a large document that had over a dozen different charts, and it was pretty easy to do in Word and it was also easy to make them look good. So basically in my Word document, Im going to head right over to the insert ribbon and Im going to choose chart. Now I think for this example Ill just do a default column, clustered column chart, works pretty much the same for all the others, and click okay. Now when you do this, Word is going to give you this little baby like Excel spreadsheet to work with, and for quick charts, thats probably not a bad way to go. However, what I like to do since I like Excel, I click this little button right here to edit the data in Microsoft Excel. Thats going to open up an, a true Excel client interface which is much more practical. So for some of my charts, I already had them created on a spread

Right-click your chart, and then choose Select Data. In the Legend Entries (Series) box, click the series you want to change. Click Edit, make your changes, and click OK.
On the Design tab, click Change Chart Type. Select a chart type that youd prefer being the default, but dont click OK just yet. Look at the top of the All Charts tab, and find the chart icon thats highlighted in gray. Right-click the chart icon thats highlighted in gray, and click Set as Default Chart.
Right-click your chart, and then choose Select Data. In the Legend Entries (Series) box, click the series you want to change. Click Edit, make your changes, and click OK. Changes you make may break links to the source data on the worksheet.
If you change the data in Excel, you can automatically refresh the chart in Word. In Excel, select the chart, and then press Ctrl+C or go to Home Copy. In your Word document, click or tap where you want the chart to appear, and press Ctrl+V or go to Home Paste.
Change the chart style Click the chart you want to change. In the upper right corner next to the chart, click Chart Styles . Click Style and pick the option you want.

Click the Usage tab. Select the Refresh every check box, and then enter the number of minutes between each refresh operation.
Edit the contents of a title or data label that is linked to data on the worksheet In the worksheet, click the cell that contains the title or data label text that you want to change. Edit the existing contents, or type the new text or value, and then press ENTER. The changes you made automatically appear on the chart.
Simply format your source data as a table, then create a chart based on that table. When you add more data below the table, it will automatically be included in both the table and the chart, keeping everything consistent and up to date.
