[Music] lets recap our pool filter dilemma ive got the pool primary pump here water pumps in to the top of both of these filters theyre piped in parallel through the sand through the gravel back out to the pool this manufacturer wants a powered backwash they want 260 gpm minimum flow rate okay to initiate a backwash these valve positions get changed we close off the pump flow and we open up this valve which allows the backwash to flow out to drain which is over there heres the problem theres no piping that allows me to change the flow the direction okay it was never done the only way this pool gets backwashed is by moving these valves to the closed position and then the uh the weight of the water in the pool flows backwards through the bottom lifts the sand carries the sediment up and out to drain that is inadequate its not possible via gravity to move 260. max is 346. so i would set this backwash up were going to call it a powered backwash for 300 gpm and the way i would do it
