Computers can represent numbers using binary code in the form of digital 1s and 0s inside the central processing unit (CPU) and RAM. These digital numbers are electrical signals that are either on or off inside the CPU or RAM.
Find the 8-bit binary code sequence for each letter of your name, writing it down with a small space between each set of 8 bits. For example, if your name starts with the letter A, your first letter would be 01000001.
We see that uppercase letters start at what is equivalent to the binary number 01000001 (65), and lowercase letters start at what is equivalent to the binary number 01100001 (97).

65 = A, 66 = B, 67 = C, 68 = D. So 68 is D. You take the decimal number, subtract 64 for uppercase letters if the number is less than 97, or 96 for lowercase letters if the number is 97 or larger, and thats the number of the letter of the alphabet associated with that set of 2 hex digits.
The lowercase letter a is represented by the number 97, b is represented by 98, and so on. Thus, for a computer to store the lowercase letter a, it would need to store the number 97 in binary, which is 1100001.
