Add a text box Place cursor where you want the text box to appear. Go to Insert and in Illustrations select Drawing. Select Text Box and use your cursor to create the text box.
If the slide layout already includes textboxes, simply click on the textbox to add text. To add a text box to the slide, choose textbox option from the main toolbar and draw the text box with the mouse. Select the text that will be formatted by highlighting the text on the slide.
Adding Text Boxes Just look for an icon of a capital T and click on it, then draw a box on the slide. You dont need to worry about the size of the box, it will expand to fit the text you place in it. The other way is to add the Text toolbar by going to ViewToolbars, and place a check mark in the Text box.

Click on the Text icon. on the Text toolbar (Figure 124). If the Text toolbar with the text icon is not visible, choose View Toolbars Text. Click and drag to draw a text box on the slide.
If the toolbar with the text icon is not visible, choose View Toolbars Drawing. Click and drag to draw a box for the text on the slide. Do not worry about the vertical size and positionthe text box will expand if needed as you type.
Re: unwanted text boxes in text document Right click on that, choose Modify from the popup menu, Borders Tab, and choose leftmost icon under heading Line Arrangement. It should popup to say Set No Borders. Now press OK and your boxes ought vanish.
To create a textbox in Writer, Open a new document in LO Writer. Open the Drawing toolbar by navigating to: View Toolbars Drawing. Click on the T icon for textbox. Single-click and drag down and to the right to expand the box. Add some text!
