so today iamp;#39;m going to put a egr block off flange on my 4m40 ajiro um i thought iamp;#39;d video it and put it on youtube um just because i had a lot there wasnamp;#39;t a massive amount of information on it um now iamp;#39;m definitely not very mechanical iamp;#39;m basically just a monkey that owns a few spanners um so iamp;#39;ve got a bit of steel and iamp;#39;m hoping i can just cut it out with a um angle grinder and grind it down to the right shape um iamp;#39;m also hoping to fit a egt gauge in that flange now i know um you really should be putting it in the collector part of the manifold but for me thatamp;#39;s thatamp;#39;s way beyond me um if i tried that iamp;#39;ll probably just have a nice hole in my manifold and probably just leave your manifold so iamp;#39;m gonna try to put it in there um online i had a little bit of research and people actually say thereamp;#39;s not much difference temp wise they i mean some people say thereamp;#39;s hundreds but

Why is my EGT gauge not reading correctly?

The temperature sensor does occassionally fail in a gauge but this is not often. The most common causes of an Exhaust Temperature gauge not working is wiring or incorrect installation. If your gauge is erractically jumping around or measuring maximum temperature this is most often the cause of a damaged sensor.

Why can you continue even if EGT exceeds the red line?

An EGT over limit due to normal engine wear does not affect the engine thrust, safe continuation of the takeoff is therefore possible. Below 80 knots, an ECAM caution will trigger and the takeoff may be aborted. Above 80 knots, ECAM caution is inhibited, no crew action required.

What happens if EGT is too high?

At Manta Performance, we recommend that your EGT stay under 550C (as measured at the turbo outlet) to assure your engines safety. What happens when your EGT gets too high? Nothing good! Certain parts of your engine can fail due to the excessive heat produced.

How do I know if my EGT sensor is bad?

Exhaust gas temperature sensor - Symptoms: Effects Warning lamp for glow plug system flashes. Warning lamp for particulate filter lights up. Engine control lamp is on. Increase in exhaust emissions (CO, NOx and HC) Poor driving behaviour because of shortened regeneration intervals of the particulate filter.

How do I know if my EGT probe is bad?

A quick way to check the EGT probe is to disconnect it from whatever device you are using to read it put an ohm meter across both output wires (the wire colors are usually red yellow). If you get an open reading then the probe is probably bad. If you get somewhere between 3 to 12 ohms then it may still be okay.

How do you test an EGT probe?

CANDLE TEST With the EGT still connected to your instrument, hold the tip of the probe in the hottest part of a paraffin-based household candle. You should get a reading of 930 deg F (500 deg C) on your instrument. If you do, your sender is good!

Do EGT probes go bad?

After use EGT probes will sometimes experience whats called aging. Aging causes the measurement to shift a bit, 10 degrees is not unheard of.

How do I know if my temperature probe is bad?

Symptoms of a Faulty RTD: Erratic Readings: Sudden, unpredictable changes in temperature readings. Open Circuit: Display shows an out-of-range high temperature or error code. Short Circuit: Display shows an out-of-range low temperature or error code. Drift: Poor Linearity: Self-Heating: Physical Damage:
