To comment out multiple lines in Python, you can use triple-quoted strings ( or ) if not assigned to a variable, or use the hash (#) symbol at the beginning of each line. The backslash (\) method can also be used to indicate line continuation, though its less common.
You can quickly comment out one or more lines of code by inserting the leading characters // at the beginning of the line. To do so, select the line (or lines) of code you want to comment out and press CTRL+/ (slash).
The first way is by using # at the beginning of each line of the comment. The next way is by using string literals but not assigning them to any variables. If you do not assign a string literal to a variable, the Python interpreter ignores it. Use this to your advantage to write multi-line comments.
Commenting out code In the C/C++ editor, select the line(s) of code that you want to comment out. If no lines are selected comments will be added (or removed) at the start of the lines containing the cursor. Right-click and select Source Toggle Comment. ( CTRL+/ )
To comment out a block of code in Python, you can either add a # at the beginning of each line of the block or surround the entire block with triple quotes ( or ).
So you can select the block of code you want to comment out, then type three quotation marks to effectively comment out that code. You can comment out multiple lines at once using a simple keyboard shortcut. For Windows and Linux users, the shortcut is Ctrl + / .
If you use RStudio, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + C ( Command + Shift + C on macOS) to comment out a line of text.
Alternatively, you can also use the following key combination: Select the code block that you want to comment-out. Press the Ctrl key and the Shift key and the C key at the same time. This will comment-out the selected code block.
